“Fang” has some high-powered names in his background, including Fascination, one of Canchones Alpacas’ premier stud dams, and Patagonia Celtic Triumph, who’s been raking in the kudos all over the Australian show circuit. Fang’s sire, Timbertop CT Grand Slam has been exported to Germany. We brought Fang in because we were impressed by his big, super-fine fleece, and his remarkable lack of guard hair — many of our finest females have shorter fleeces, with haloes of longer guard hair. We’re hoping that Fang will improve both these traits in their offspring, without compromising their low micron, and so far it is looking like he has: both daughters and sons have inherited his square frame and thick, dense fleece.
